Hermeto Pascoal's first solo record, recorded in New York in 1970. Although it can be classified as a jazz record, Hermeto's free music has always gone beyond labels.
Hermeto's sound unites elements from all the cultures he experienced, from bossa to forró, from jazz to samba, and this characteristic remained throughout his later discography. “It's my first record and you can see that I managed to do several styles on one record. I mean, the person who listened to a track and then listened to another would not know it was from the same arranger”, comments the champion in an interview for Noize magazine. Produced by Airto Moreira and Flora Purim, the album features the participation of great musicians such as Ron Carter, Thad Jones and Google Coppola.
